The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity. Considered by many the Opus Magnum of legendary and "ancient" German black metal band Eminenz, Diabolical Warfare is yet another marvel brought to light by label Northern Silence, which is becoming one of my favorite sources of musical dark art. Here you will find some keyboard-infused atmospheric BM in its finest form, apart maybe from the closing track, closer to melodic DM. In any case, a very highly recommended album!!
